See the world from a new perspective at QAGOMA. Together, the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art offer compelling experiences that will move and surprise you. Our two galleries each have their own distinct personalities, but are united in their purpose to share exceptional art. Queensland Art Gallery was established in 1895 and moved to its current residence at South Bank in 1982. It was joined by the Gallery of Modern Art in 2006 and the galleries now house a globally significant collection of contemporary art from Australia, Asia and the Pacific.

A distinct landmark, both as a striking pre-war industrial building and a hub for creativity, art and cultural innovation, Brisbane Powerhouse is situated on the Brisbane River, and central to the bustling New Farm Park precinct. As Brisbane City Council’s premier arts venue, the much-loved building stages more than 1250 performances a year including a program of festivals, as well as hundreds of events and functions from weddings to conferences, all the while housing heritage-listed graffiti, riverside bars and restaurants, visual arts exhibitions and of course the stories of all who have ventured, laughed and shared memories within its living walls.

Named after Judith Wright, the celebrated Australian poet and activist, the Judith Wright Arts Centre (JWAC) is a vibrant and contemporary visual and performing arts hub, located in the heart of Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley. Home to some of Queensland’s and Australia’s most dynamic arts organisations, JWAC is a creative space for exciting visual arts programming and for the development and presentation of original and innovative contemporary performance works, including cabaret, circus, dance, music, spoken word and multi-disciplinary arts.

Fortitude Valley is packed with nightlife, offering everything from dive bars and mellow live music venues to rooftop cocktail lounges and pumping dance clubs. Relaxed brunch cafes mix with cosy Chinatown eateries and upmarket European restaurants. Indie record stores and art galleries add a bohemian vibe, while the Judith Wright Center showcases performing arts from contemporary dance to poetry recitals.

James St has staked a claim as Brisbane’s, and Australia’s, foremost retail and lifestyle precinct. Having emerged organically from its inner-city industrial roots, the street and surrounding area has evolved into a high energy urban retail pocket.

The Fortitude Music Hall is the largest ballroom/theatre styled venue in Australia, with a 3,000 person standing capacity and a 1,100 seated capacity. We were inspired by some of the world’s most loved live music venues – from classic art deco theatres to larger clubs, while still paying homage to the iconic venues of Brisbane’s past. The Fortitude Music Halls’ prime location in the heart of Brisbane’s entertainment precinct and state of the art production make the venue a truly world class performance space.

Brisbane Showgrounds is located at 600 Gregory Terrace, Bowen Hills, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and was established in 1875. It hosts almost 300 events each year, with the largest being the Royal Queensland Show. The Brisbane Showgrounds was designed by Claude William Chambers and built by Walls & Juster.
