Cheltenham's famous Promenade dates back to 1818 at the height of the Regency period, when the avenue of elms and horse chestnut trees was first planted. The spa was surrounded by pleasure gardens (most of which are still preserved as the Imperial Gardens). The Cheltenham Promenade now has a reputation as one of the best preserved and most beautiful thoroughfares, and is now a nostalgic modern hub with smart cafes, shops and bars blending in with a historic facade. A poll by Google in 2011 is said to have named the Promenade in Cheltenham as one of the top five shopping streets in the UK.

Additional Information

Cheltenham is one of the most easily accessible destinations in the UK, it is the perfect base to explore with the beautiful countryside and quintessential Cotswolds on our doorstep. Let me tell you a few of my favourite places to visit within an hour or so of Ellenborough Park: firstly, the historic Oxford, the city of dreaming spires, it houses Britain’s oldest and most prestigious university and the first known museum in history – the Ashmolean Museum. Also, local to us are the ancient Roman Baths and thoroughly modern Thermae Bath Spa, which houses the only natural thermal hot springs in Britain you can bathe in. Or why not take a royal stroll through the private residence of Their Majesties The King Charles III and The Queen Consort at the Highgrove House and Gardens.
