Sacromonte is a neighbourhood of Granada, in Spain. It derives its name from the nearby Sacromonte Abbey, which was founded in 1600 on the hill of Valparaiso outside the old city, and is built over catacombs (originally mine workings of Roman date).

Between the Carmen de los Mártires and the Hotel Alhambra Palace is the house where the composer Manuel de Falla, a native of Cadiz, lived from 1921 until the end of the Spanish Civil War. De Falla died in self-imposed exile in Argentina, but since then his friends have painstakingly restored and redecorated the house, to provide an image of how it was in the days when De Falla and his friend Lorca organized the first Flamenco Singing Contest in 1922. The Museum is open from 10am to 2pm, every day except Mondays and holidays.

These gardens occupy the site of the old bullring and were opened in 1960. Made up of wide sloping paths, they are crowned with the statue of the Triunfo de la Virgen and a 75-metre long fountain with water and light shows. In the lower gardens, on the right-hand side, there is a statue dedicated to San Juan de Dios, while on the left-hand side there is a low circular fountain with water jets.

The Sierra Nevada (meaning "snowy range" in Spanish) is a mountain range in the region of provinces of Granada and Almería in Spain. It contains the highest point of continental Spain, Mulhacén at 3478 m (11,411 ft.) above sea level. It is a popular tourist destination, as its high peaks make skiing possible in one of Europe's most southerly ski resorts, in an area along the Mediterranean Sea predominantly known for its warm temperatures and abundant sunshine.

The Huerta de San Vicente was the summer home of the Garcia Lorca family from 1926 to 1936. Federico Garcia Lorca wrote here some of his main works and spent the days just previous to his arrest and asassination at the onset of the Spanish Civil War. Opened to the public as a House-Museum in 1995, today the Huerta de San Vicente is a living cultural center within the city of Granada.

In this quarter of Granada, at the foot of the southern tip of the Alhambra, lies the Campo del Príncipe, the "field of the Prince", a spacious plaza created by the Catholic Monarchs for the celebration of the wedding of their short-lived son Prince Juan. In the summertime it is a high point of Granada's night life, with many taverns serving drinks and tapas in the open air. Just up the slope from the Campo del Príncipe is the pretty church of San Cecilio, patron saint of Granada. It is crowned, in this photo, by the flamboyant Hotel Alhambra Palace, built at the beginning of the 20th century by a wealthy aristocrat to lodge his friend King Alphonse XIII during their hunting parties. You can visit Santo Domingo Church too: It is no coincidence that this half-forgotten church was built with the tombstones of Granada's Moorish cemeteries. The Dominican Order had been the driving force of the Reconquest and the expulsion of heretics (Jews and Muslims) from the peninsula - ever since Saint Dominic, travelling through France in the 13th century, witnessed the Pope's armies exterminating the Cathars and requested that they extend their activities south of the Pyrenees, thus launching the Spanish Inquisition.

The poet, the playwright, the musician and the painter – one of the ‘greats’ of the time, Federico Garcia Lorca, is the pride of Spain and of Granada. Federico Garcia Lorca Birth Place, Granada has been dedicated to keeping the memories of this great person alive by conserving his possessions. Federico Garcia Lorca Birth Place, Granada was the poet’s summer house, which has been the witness of some of the best poetical works by this great man. So, it can be called the house museum, the house, which has been converted to this museum. The only modification that has been made in the house is that the possessions have been arranged in a way so as to make the life and works of Federico Garcia Lorca clear to the visitors. This house has been fortunate enough to see the creation of great works of art like the Blood Weddings or Lament for Ignacio Sánchez Mejías during the 1926 and 1936.

This is now taken up with souvenir shops but it was once a great bazaar where silk was made and sold. Alcaicería literally means either the "house of Caesar" or "belonging to Caesar" in recognition of the fact that Emperor Justinian granted the Moors permission to sell silk. Traditionally these bazaars were situated in the centre of a city, with inns where the merchants could stay, and with gates at all the entrances to guard against looting and which were closed at night. The narrow streets inside were then patrolled by watchmen.
