Javits Convention Center, commonly known as the Javits Center, is a large convention center located on Eleventh Avenue, between 34th and 40th streets, in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan, New York City. It was designed by architect James Ingo Freed of Pei Cobb Freed & Partners. The controversial and revolutionary space frame structure was begun in 1980, finished in 1986, and named for United States Senator Jacob Javits, who died that year.[1][2] The Center is operated and maintained by the New York City Convention Center Operating Corporation. The convention center has a total area space of 1,800,000 square feet (170,000 m2)[3] and has 840,000 square feet (78,000 m2) of total exhibit space.[4]

Exceptional architecture and plant design The High Line design is a collaboration between James Corner Field Operations (Project Lead), Diller Scofidio + Renfro, and Piet Oudolf. THE STRUCTURE Converting each section of the High Line from an out-of-use railroad trestle to a public landscape entailed not only years of planning, community input, and work by some of the city's most inventive designers, but also more than two years of construction per section. PLANTING DESIGN The High Line's planting design is inspired by the self-seeded landscape that grew on the out-of-use elevated rail tracks during the 25 years after trains stopped running. The species of perennials, grasses, shrubs and trees were chosen for their hardiness, sustainability, and textural and color variation, with a focus on native species. Many of the species that originally grew on the High Line's rail bed are incorporated into the park's landscape.

More

Refined yet playful, hand-crafted yet modern, the 350-room Moxy Chelsea reimagines the urban jungle, blending botanically-inspired design with Italian romance—the Flower District’s new secret garden. Rising 37 stories high into the New York City skyline, the micro-room, macro-amenity hotel, developed by Lightstone, marks the second collaboration between Yabu Pushelberg and Rockwell Group, the designers behind Moxy Times Square. In a nod to the foliage-strewn streets of the Flower District, the architecture juxtaposes an industrial façade with a glass atrium revealing the vertical gardens within. Guests enter the hotel through an overgrown flower shop, alongside a pasticceria, caffè, and lively indoor/outdoor ristorante that infuse timeless Italian charm with a modern sensibility. The second-floor lobby blends numerous live/work/play spaces designed to transform over the course of the day, including a cocktail bar offering a gourmet take on Italian street food; meeting studios; a co-working lounge; a lushly planted conservatory; and a garden terrace decked out with a Neapolitan-style pizza oven and made-for-Moxy bocce drinking game. Guest rooms are flooded with natural light, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows, and filled with whimsical details, while reflecting a careful consideration of space and functionality. Topping off the hotel is a glass-enclosed rooftop lounge with expansive views that stretch from the Statue of Liberty to the Empire State Building; at the touch of a button, a retractable window wall transforms the lounge into an alfresco sky veranda. LOCATION: ● Moxy Chelsea brings a fresh vibrancy to the historic New York Flower District in Chelsea, where culture, commerce, and greenery converge. ● Chelsea is one of Manhattan’s most dynamic neighborhoods, a historic district that’s home to the High Line and Chelsea Market. Minutes to Hudson Yards, Flatiron and Meatpacking Districts.
