Elk Lake covers a 12,000-acre privately-owned forest preserve in the heart of the High Peaks, ringed by mountains: Dix, Macomb, Nippletop, and the Colvin Range. The main lodge at Elk Lake, built in 1904, is a typical rustic example of Adirondack architecture featuring a large fieldstone fireplace with Adirondack and Craft Movement furniture, and is home to the Elk Lake Lodge dining room. The lodge offers six comfortable rooms, each with twin beds and private bath.
Meals are served in the dining room of the main lodge. Guests dine at tables arranged around a central fireplace overlooking Elk Lake and its panoramic views of the Adirondack High Peaks. Service includes a hearty breakfast of eggs and French toast or pancakes, a trail lunch chosen by each guest from a lunch card the night before, and a satisfying dinner of soup, salad, and a choice of two entrees, plus a homemade dessert.
