Shaanxi History Museum

Museum
Built in imposing classical Chinese style, the museum was opened in 1992 and is considered one of the best in China. The exhibits are arranged chronologically, from Palaeolithic, New Stone Age and Neolithic periods, through Han, Western Wei and Northern Zhou Dynasties to the more recent Sui, Tang, Ming and Qing Dynasties.

Mount Hua

Huashan, or Mount Hua, is one of China's five sacred mountains. It is located to the south of Huayin City, 100 kilometres east of Xian. At an elevation of 2,200 metres, the mountain overlooks the Huanghe River and the Weishui River to the north and the Qinling Mountains to the south. Huashan is the tallest among the five great mountains.

This army of life-size warriors has silently guarded the First Emperor's Tomb for over 2,000 years. Of the three vaults so far identified, only one has been excavated. The vault open to the public houses the infantry of the Emperor's army. Note that each face has its own individual features; there are no copies.

City Wall

The City Wall is the best-preserved of all such ancient city architecture in China; it is also the most integrated and the largest city wall in the world. It was built on the ruins of the imperial city of the Tang Dynasty for defence so was very robust. The city wall is 12 metres in height. It is 12 to 14 metres wide across the top, 15 to 18 metres thick at the bottom, and 13.7 kilometres in length.
