World Forestry Center

Museum
10 minutes away
Our 20,000 square foot museum is located in Portland's beautiful Washington Park. Built in dramatic Cascadian style architecture, you'll marvel at the intricate hand carvings and grand entry outside, and delight in hands-on, one-of-a-kind exhibits inside. The first floor of our museum focuses on forests of the Pacific Northwest and the role they play in providing habitat, water, recreation, wood, and a multitude of other benefits. The second floor of our museum is divided into two major sections. One half of the space is devoted to temporary exhibits that explore art, history and culture from around the world. The other half explores forests around the world and their connections to people. Families and school groups will find exhibits that pique curiosity and encourage active learning. This is a must-see attraction for anyone who lives in the Pacific Northwest or is visiting from out of town.

The Oregon Zoo

Park
10 minutes away
The Zoo has been inspiring a better future for wildlife from its current home for 50 years (and connecting people with animals for 122 years)! In 1959, the Portland Zoological Gardens helped the state celebrate its centennial by opening at its current location with a brand-new railway and lots of colorful "modern" design accents. At that time, the zoo was at the very edge of town, with mostly wilderness beyond it. On November 1, 1959, the main approaches to the zoo from Canyon Road had just been paved. Thousands of school children came as part of their curriculum. Zoo admission was 35 cents.

The Historic Stairwell features over 50 famous landmarks in Portland, with photos dating back to 1847. It showcases the story about how Portland got its name (and other recognizable nicknames), and many fun facts about Portland, from its cultural offerings in museums, music, film and the arts, to its food scene that has become part of the city’s fabric.

More

The iconic Benson Hotel is the city’s only luxury hotel that blends the charm and civility of the old world with the elegance of contemporary European design and mindful service. Built by legendary innovator and philanthropist Simon Benson in 1912, the hotel features original Italian marble floors, Austrian crystal chandeliers, and the largest collection of Circassian walnut within one building. The Benson is truly the last of its kind, with a multi-million dollar renovation completed in 2023. Curated B&B Italia furniture now welcomes guests throughout the lobby. Our Palm Court Restaurant & Bar — with Culinary by El Gaucho — beckons guests to imbibe, gather and connect. We’ve refreshed our 12 meeting rooms and two dramatic grand ballrooms with new technology, lighting and design features with a modern simplicity, that in contrast, highlights the existing architecture of each space. Our 1,500 square foot fitness center has been expanded to include all new, state-of-the-art equipment and yoga studio. Inspired by our founder Mr. Simon Benson, The Benson seeks to cultivate the best in all of us. For over a hundred years, the hotel has catered to celebrities, leaders in business and industry, dignitaries, and nearly every U.S. president since William H. Taft. As a cultural landmark, the hotel represents a shared interest in our common good – infused with civility, gratitude and joy. With contemporary design, our 287 guest rooms include 47 junior suites, seven penthouse suites, and two Presidential Suites. Our Portland accommodations, many with sweeping views of the city, feature 55" flat-screen TVs, windows that open, plush bathrobes and slippers, in-room complimentary coffee and tea that bring the comforts of home to your travels. The Benson's Historic Stairwell showcases local history, art, and serves as a guide through all the city’s fascinations.
