Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park

Park
The National Park has an area over 311,000 acres and comprises two main significant sites: Uluru (Ayers Rock) - is one of the largest monoliths in the world. Made of arkosic sandstone, Uluru rises 348 metres above the desert floor and has a circumference of 9.4 kilometres. Kata Tjuta, known also as The Olgas. Kata Tjuta is the Aboriginal name, which means "many heads'. It is a group of more than 36 rounded red domes rising from the desert floor. The tallest is said to be around 546 metres high. Kata Tjuta is about 30 kilometres west of Uluru. Sunset and sunrise over Uluru and Kata Tjuta are spectacular, with the colours at both sites becoming more vibrant and even changing. Uluru and Kata Tjuta have significant meaning to Aboriginal people. They both form an important focus of their spiritual life. The park is recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Area for both its natural and cultural values.

Desert Awakenings Tour

Recreation
Travel away from the crowds to a secluded sand dune to watch the spectacular sight of sunrise over Uluru and Kata-Tjuta. In the company of your expert guide, Desert Awakenings is designed to introduce you to the natural and cultural landscapes of this remarkable region. The tour includes a traditional Bushman’s breakfast, guided 4WD tour, visit to the Cultural Centre and Mutitjulu Waterhole, and return transfers to your hotel.

FREE Daily Activities

Recreation
Enjoy a wide range of FREE activities, including guided or self guided garden walks through local native flora, sit down for a bush yarn in the Circle of Sand with a local Anangu storyteller, learn how to throw a spear with an Indigenous guide, listen to the enchanting sounds of the didgeridoo, support local artists and browse the many artpieces at the Indigenous art markets or marvel at the traditional Indigenous dance performance and rare photo opportunities with the performers will ensure you will never forget this unique experience.

Dot Painting Workshop

Delegates brainstorm and come together over efforts to replicate the intricate hand movements of the Anangu Aboriginal artist. They must work closely with the artist and each other to complete a single masterpiece that respects this intricate Indigenous skill while depicting a story or topic of their choice. When completed the artwork creates a stunning, visual reminder of lessons learned.

Sounds of Silence dining experience

Your Sounds of Silence experience begins with canapés and chilled sparkling wine served on a viewing platform overlooking the Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park. As the sun sets and darkness falls to the sound of a didgeridoo, join your table of fellow travellers for an unforgettable dining experience and an introduction to Aboriginal culture with a traditional dance performance under the outback sky. Our attentive staff will keep your glass full with a quality selection of Australian wine and beers while first course is served. As the night sky twinkles to life, help yourself to a bush tucker inspired buffet that incorporates native bush ingredients such as crocodile, kangaroo, barramundi and quandong. After dinner, settle back and listen to our resident star talker decode the southern night sky. Locate the Southern Cross, the signs of the zodiac, the Milky Way, as well as planets and galaxies that are visible due to the exceptional clarity of the atmosphere. After dinner, enjoy dessert with a glass of port, tea or coffee.

Uluru Camel Tours

Recreation
The very first camel arrived in Australia in 1840. From then on they played a role in almost every historic exploration of Australia's red desert centre. Today, herds of wild camels roam across the region, while the experienced cameleers and trained camels of Uluru Camel Tours provide the opportunity to get up close and personal with these amazing creatures. Tour options include: - Camel Express - Camel to Sunrise - Camel to Sunset - Camel Hijack - Camel to Sounds of Silence

Tali Wiru dining experience

‘Tali Wiru’, meaning beautiful dune in local Anangu language, encapsulates the magic of fine dining under the Southern Desert sky. Instead of walls, this open-air restaurant has magnificent views of Uluru and the distant domes of Kata Tjuta (The Olgas), and for unique ambience there’s the stillness of the desert at night. Relax with Champagne and canapés as the sun sets to the sound of a didgeridoo. As day turns to night, stroll to the top of the dune for a table d’hote four-course dinner, matched with premium Australian wine. The contrast between the spectacular natural setting and the world-class gastronomic adventure on your plate is simply awe-inspiring. Tali Wiru is so much more than a dining experience; it’s a night you will remember for the rest of your life. After dinner, an Indigenous storyteller will captivate you with stories of the world’s oldest living culture.
