Local Attractions

Sandy Ground

Nightlife
The village of Sandy Ground is Anguilla's main port/harbor. The long, curved beach is backed by high cliffs and a salt pond. It is the home to several restaurants and lively beach bars all within very close walking distance. Perfect for a group dine-around option, the group can split up to enjoy a variety of cuisine options and then meet back after dinner for great music and cocktails at many of Sandy Ground’s charismatic beach bars.

Sandy Island

Recreation
A small cay off Sandy Ground beach in Anguilla. It is quite possibly the most beautiful place one will ever visit. A popular off island getaway, Sandy Island offers visitors a sensational tropical experience. It’s far away enough for that quintessential Robinson Crusoe feeling, yet close enough to stay connected to the mainland. With just a little make shift shack for shade, a traditional drum-pan barbecue grill and a cooler stocked with cold beer. The island's 2 man staff entertained boat loads of hungry sun and sea worshippers for many years.

The Dune Preserve

Nightlife
Built from ocean debris and shipwrecks washed ashore, this funky, multi-level beach bar on Rendezvous Bay is home to local music legend, Bankie Banx. Reminiscent of a structure built by the “Lost Boys” of Peter Pan, guests have the opportunity to listen to some of the island’s best musicians and bands, including Bankie Banx himself, at this popular hangout.

Glass-Bottom Boat Tour

Recreation
Captain Junior Fleming provides a magical journey on a canopy covered glass bottom boat through the reef jungle off Shoal Bay during which guests will view coral formations and fish, greenback turtles, and live coral through the glass in the bottom of the boat.

Scilly Cay

Recreation
A tiny coral based island crowns the bay in the village of Island Harbour. Its low island vegetation and tiny sand beach made it the perfect spot for a daytime restaurant. The island is owned and operated by Sandra and Eudoxie Wallace, who are dedicated to making stays on Scilly an experience to remember. Open for lunch on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Reservation needed in advance.

Sunset Cruise

Recreation
Guests may enjoy a sunset cruise on a Calypso, a 38-foot bow rider. The cruise is a picture perfect way to experience the beauty of the Caribbean sunset and with a bit of luck, participants may have the opportunity to see the “Green Flash” along the horizon line! The sunset cruise features an open bar and hors d’oeuvres are served.

Prickly Pear

Recreation
The Cays are located six miles north of Road Bay in Anguilla in the Leeward Islands. The Western smaller cay consists of mainly rocky coral and scrub with no easy access to the island. The Eastern Cay has similar terrain on the south side of the island, but once you pass through the passage between the two cays, on to the north side, guests are treated to a long, beautiful white sandy beach and to the turquoise waters of the bay, where you can snorkel amongst the coral reefs. Open for Lunch Tuesdays & Saturday. Reservation needed in advance.

Anguilla Heritage Trail Tour

Historical landmark
Anguilla’s Heritage Trail Tour aims to introduce visitors to Anguilla’s past by creating permanent markers at 10 historic sites which were selected by public vote. The sites included are Colville Petty’s Heritage Collection, Old Valley Well, Old Courthouse Foundations (Crocus Hill), KoalKeel/Wardens Place, Katouche Bay, Rendezvous Bay, Sandy Ground (Overlook on Back Street), the Pumphouse, Wallblake House, and the Factory. Each site is marked with a large, local boulder and plaque with a brief description. The 2-hour guided tour will bring visitors closer to understanding Anguilla’s rich cultural history. Refreshments and commemorative map included.
