The Dubai Mall

24 km away
Located in the heart the prestigious Downtown Dubai, described as ‘The Centre of Now,’ is The Dubai Mall, the world’s largest and most-visited retail and entertainment destination, which welcomed more than 80 million visitors in 2014. With a total internal floor area of 5.9 million sq ft, The Dubai Mall has 3.77 million sq ft of gross leasable space and over 1,200 retail outlets including two anchor department stores - Galeries Lafayette and Bloomingdale’s - and over 200 food and beverage outlets. The Dubai Mall offers an unparalleled retail mix combined with world-class dining, entertainment and leisure attractions. The Fashion Avenue, the precinct dedicated to high fashion, positions The Dubai Mall as the fashion capital for the region. Another niche component of the mall is The Souk, an elegantly designed precinct featuring jewelry shops, accessory outlets, traditional Arab clothing and handicraft stores, among others. One of the mall’s unique precincts is an open-air streetscape, The Village that offers a rich collection of denim brands and brings an outdoor community feel with tree-lined walkways, cafés and restaurants. The Dubai Mall features the world-class Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo featuring thousands of aquatic animals and a 270-degree walkthrough tunnel. The strong family entertainment components include KidZania®, an innovative children’s ‘edutainment’ concept; the 22-screen Reel Cinemas megaplex with a total capacity of 2,800 seats; and the Olympic-sized Dubai Ice Rink. For visitors, there is an adjoining 5-star premium hotel, The Address Dubai Mall and car parking for over 14,000 vehicles.

Dubai Museum

30 km away
Amidst the ultra-new buildings of the city, Dubai Museum stands as a tribute to the Emirate’s history and traditional culture. Inside, visitors can learn more about Dubai’s transition from village to cutting-edge city through life-size dioramas, archaeological artefacts and interactive exhibits. Visiting Dubai Museum Dubai Museum is located in Al Fahidi Fort, which is believed to be Dubai’s oldest surviving building. The fort’s origins can be traced back to 1787, and in 1971 it was repurposed as a museum. The fort and its courtyard are particularly striking given the futuristic vision of Dubai’s current cityscape, many visitors regard Dubai Museum as a calm oasis in the old city. Inside Dubai Museum, a variety of life size dioramas – models showcased behind glass – tell the story of traditional life in the Emirate. These include traditional scenes of Arab households, souks and mosques as well as offering insight into life in the desert and by the sea. Yet more exhibits pay homage to the local pearl diving industry. Most of the galleries at Dubai Museum are underground in Al Fahidi Fort. On top of this space lies a dhow (a boat), as a tribute to Dubai’s traditional fishing heritage. It’s an intriguing glimpse into Dubai’s past that will fascinate even the most seasoned traveller.

Burj Khalifa

25 km away
World's tallest building. A living wonder. Stunning work of art. Incomparable feat of engineering. Burj Khalifa is all that. In concept and execution, Burj Khalifa has no peer. More than just the world's tallest building, Burj Khalifa is an unprecedented example of international cooperation, symbolic beacon of progress, and an emblem of the new, dynamic and prosperous Middle East. It is also tangible proof of Dubai's growing role in a changing world. In fewer than 30 years, this city has transformed itself from a regional centre to a global one. This success was not based on oil reserves, but on reserves of human talent, ingenuity and initiative. Burj Khalifa embodies that vision.
