Only 40 minutes away, Malaga has many things you can do and see in one day. La Alcazaba is the ancient castle where the Arab kings of Malaga used to rule. The archeological museum of prehistory shows the Roman and Mozarab times. The cathedral is a national monument from the Renaissance. The Museum of Fine Arts shows works of art from El Greco, Zurbaran, Ribera and modern and contemporary collections. The Museum of arts and crafts takes you back in time to see how life was lived in the 19th century. It wouldn’t be a complete trip without visiting the Picasso Museum and the Carmen Thyssen Museum. The former has a permanent collection that includes more than 200 paintings from the genius that have never been seen before and that were donated by Pablo Picasso´s family. On the other hand, the collection in the Carmen Thyssen Museum shows a rich ensemble of extraordinary coherence that begins with a series of pieces of old masters, Santa Marina de Zurbaran included, and continues with a series of chapters that allow us to establish solid tales of the genders that had the leading role in the 19th century Spanish paintings, with special emphasis on andalucian paintings. In the last years there have been many big projects that have turned Malaga into a cosmopolitan city with lots of art, music, culture, leisure, gastronomy, tradition and fashion.
