Located 2 miles (3.2 km) southwest of Downtown Portland, the zoo is inside Portland's Washington Park, and includes the 2 ft 6 in (762 mm) narrow gauge Washington Park & Zoo Railway that previously connected to the International Rose Test Garden inside the park, but currently runs only within the zoo. Opened in 1888 after a private animal collector donated his animals to the City of Portland, the 64-acre (26 ha) zoo is now owned by the regional Metro government. It currently holds more than 1,800 animals of more than 230 species, including 19 endangered species and 9 threatened species.[1] The zoo also boasts an extensive plant collection throughout its animal exhibits and specialized gardens.[6] The Oregon Zoo is Oregon's largest paid and arguably most popular visitor attraction, with more than 1.6 million visitors in 2016.[2] The zoo is a member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

More

The pioneers who made it to Oregon didn’t do things by the book, and neither do we. Featuring graffiti-inspired cork art, a lobby that doubles as an urban tasting room, and a game room for adults, Kimpton Hotel Vintage proves that it’s not afraid to be a trailblazer. Come join us in keeping things weird (yet luxe!) in our historic building in downtown Portland. Located in the heart of downtown Portland, and featuring Portland's newest rooms, the boutique Kimpton Hotel Vintage Portland celebrates Oregon's wine industry by dedicating each room to a local winery or vineyard. The Vintage Portland, a Kimpton Hotel completed a $10 million renovation in 2015 and is an immersion in gracious Pacific Northwest hospitality from top to bottom. Our hotel offers 117 uniquely decorated sleep rooms for guests and also includes many amenities to make their stay comfortable. It also offers 10 meeting rooms for event purposes. You’ve been in the boring, basic, beige meeting rooms before, the kind devoid of anything distinctive. At Kimpton Hotel Vintage, if there’s one thing we have, it’s personality (you saw the mural in the lobby, right?). We bring that spirit to your event, whether you’re hosting a business retreat or a Sweet 16. Let our event planners help you craft the kind of memorable experience attendees will talk about for months to come — for all the right reasons (and not because Uncle Benny tripped on the carpet and fell into the cake, although that is memorable, too).
