Caneel Bay Resort guarantees love at first sight for groups seeking sun, fun and Caribbean sea in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Founded by Laurance S. Rockefeller in 1956, the legendary resort offers seven private beaches and 166 secluded lodgings on the island of St. John. Its 170 - acre peninsula forms part of Virgin Islands National Park, a 5,000-acre nature preserve that covers more than half the island's 19 square miles. Like generations of elite guests before them, today's patrons cherish Caneel Bay's decided elegance. Guests luxuriate in the unbridled splendor of the Caribbean, understated buildings and decor, and discreet service. To preserve the sense of tranquility, guest rooms do not have TVs or phones, but guests may stay cool and connected with air-conditioning, good cell phone reception, complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the resort, and TVs in the main bar, Caneel Beach Grill and the fitness center. Locations throughout the resort host evening events, and the Turtle Bay Estate House's meeting rooms shed natural light on gatherings for up to 80 guests. Top activities for everyone start with snorkeling off one of Caneel Bay's seven beaches, or a group excursion from the Caneel Bay dock for scuba diving; deep sea fishing; full-day, half-day or sunset sails; and trips to the British Virgin Islands via sailboat or speedboat. Of course, some guests opt for the relaxation of long, lazy hours spent on one of the seven pristine beaches. Direct flights to St. Thomas and guests check into the Caneel Bay lounge at the airport. Guests then take the Caneel Bay taxi to Charlotte Amalie where they board the Caneel Bay ferry for a scenic 30 minute ride to the resort. Guests are greeted by guest services at the Caneel Bay dock and escorted to their guest room. Their luggage will follow shortly after via the bell staff. Caneel Bay is a scenic 10 minute taxi ride to Cruz Bay for dining, shopping and nightlife.
