The New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts was largely set up in 1882 to provide a vehicle for a National art Collection. The Academy Galleries are located right in the heart of Wellington's waterfront opposite the Museum of Wellington City and Sea. The public entrance to the Gallery is located at the gates to Queens Wharf.
