Schaumburg, IL Meeting Planning Overview

Schaumburg, located just 25 miles northwest of downtown Chicago, is among the region's best destinations for meeting and events. As a center of economic development Schaumburg is home to corporate giants such as Motorola and Zurich American. Schaumburg event venues are plentiful.

Located at the crossroads of major highways and interstates, Schaumburg is served by the world-class O'Hare International Airport—only 15 minutes away—and Midway International Airport in addition to the corporate Schaumburg Regional Airport.

Popular hotel venues in Schaumburg include the modern, elegant Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel and Schaumburg Convention Center. Offering 148,624 square feet of total combined meeting space—the largest being the 97,200-square-foot column-free convention center space—the hotel and adjoining convention center feature a total of 42 meeting rooms. The Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel also features 500 luxurious guest rooms, on-site fine dining, a fitness center, and indoor pool, as well as audio-visual and specialty lighting services. Additional meeting amenities include free parking, award-winning culinary services, generous pre-function and registration space, built-in concession stands, and 30-foot-tall ceilings.

Meeting groups can also convene at one of Schaumburg's other 25 well-appointed hotels, all with free parking, or one of the many fine-dining establishments, including local favorites Chandler's, Rosebud Old World Italian, Chicago Prime, and Fresh 1800, as well as Chicago-area restaurant locations for Rainforest Cafe, Shaw's Crab House, Morton’s, and Seasons 52.

Schaumburg attractions are all about entertainment. Groups can cheer on jousting knights at Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament, or take in an improvisational comedy show at the Laugh Out Loud Theater—and then participate in the theater's corporate entertainment and training opportunities. Groups can also visit the Schaumburg location of the world-famous IMPROV Theater or take in a show at the intimate Prairie Center for the Arts. The 442-seat theater offers shows ranging from local entertainment to international touring acts. Also one of many Schaumburg event venues, the Prairie Center rents out its theater, lecture hall, and two conference halls for private events and groups.

Other special event venues in Schaumburg include the beautiful Spring Valley Nature Center, a 135-acre gem with three miles of handicapped-accessible hiking trails, natural history displays, and an 1880s living history farm, as well as private event rental spaces. Groups can also take in exciting Thoroughbred racing at the nearby Arlington Park Racecourse, which offers sophisticated private rental spaces with stunning views of the racetrack and sumptuous cuisine. Visitors and their families can use their imaginations and marvel at the engineering feats at the LEGOLAND Discovery Center, which features a four-dimensional cinema and theater available for meeting groups, more than two million play-friendly LEGO bricks, and LEGO-sized depictions of famous Chicago landmarks.

Shopping is supreme in Schaumburg, which offers an almost unlimited choice of the finest retailers in the Chicagoland region at its sixty-six shopping centers and hundreds of retail shops, including gigantic Woodfield Mall, one of the top 10 malls in the U.S., with over 300 stores and restaurants under one roof, and the country’s largest IKEA.
