Edmonton

Edmonton is a city that knows what it takes to make amazing happen. It has an energetic core filled with inventive eats, world-renowned festivals, and a sprawling river valley with over 150 kilometers of trails scattered throughout the city. Alberta's capital is also Canada's fastest-growing city and home to 1.1 million friendly residents. Edmonton is located at the northern end of Alberta's central region.

The city is only a three-hour drive from Calgary and connects with major east/west transportation routes to Jasper National Park in the grand Canadian Rocky Mountains. As Canada's northernmost major metropolis, it's also along one of the busiest north/south thoroughfares and acts as the continent's “Gateway to the North.” Getting here directly is easy with 60 nonstop flights to and from the continuously growing Edmonton International Airport.

Rogers Place, the home of the Oilers ice hockey team, has moved downtown, and the surrounding ICE District has sparked more vibrancy and energy in the downtown core. ICE District is Canada's largest mixed-use sports and entertainment district, covering five square blocks of downtown Edmonton. The $5 billion, 25-acre development area includes a 77,000-square-foot public plaza, office towers, Ford Hall, a casino, and a wide range of restaurants, nightclubs, theaters, and more.

Edmonton offers numerous lodging options for visitors, including more than 12,000 hotel rooms citywide, 3,000 of which are downtown. In 2016, the new, eye-catching Hyatt Place Edmonton Downtown opened its doors. It is the first location in Canada for the Hyatt Place brand and is situated only 400 meters from the Shaw Conference Centre. Also new are the Crash hotel, a one-of-a-kind, trendy boutique hotel, and the JW Marriott Edmonton ICE District, a premier luxury hotel that will adjoin Rogers Place when it opens in 2019.

Whether you're hosting a meeting at one of Edmonton's conference hotels or conference centers, one thing is for certain: These meeting venues aren't just rooms; they're incubators for great ideas and connections. Awarded for excellence, the Shaw Conference Centre is located in the heart of downtown Edmonton, overlooking the city's beautiful and famous North Saskatchewan River Valley. A world-class facility, the Shaw Convention Centre features unique and exciting architecture, renowned sustainability certifications, inspired cuisine, and the cutting-edge technology needed to make an event successful.
