Tempered by its location along the shores of the Great Lakes, this region's climate is remarkably moderate, especially by Canadian standards. It experiences four distinct seasons, with an average annual high temperature of 57°F and a low of 40°F, and is known as Ontario's warmest region. July is the city's warmest month, with an average high of 82°F and average low of 63°F, while January brings the city's coldest temperatures, with an average high of 30°F and average low of 16°F. This region sees an average of 51 inches of snow per year, which falls from October through April. Two to five major snowfalls grace the region each year.
