Nairobi is the capital and largest city of Kenya, as well as the most populous city in East Africa. Home to numerous corporations, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and even its own stock exchange, Nairobi is an extremely important business center. The city attracts a lot of event planners from around the world, and there's no dearth of meeting and conference facilities in Nairobi.

Named after Kenya's first post-colonial prime minister and president, the city's main airport is Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), the largest in East and Central Africa. About 15 kilometers southeast of the city center, it offers direct service to and from Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, Paris, and Zurich.

The Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC) is among the main conference venues in Nairobi. It has 15 meeting rooms, including a 771-seat amphitheater, the Tsavo Ballroom for 3,500 guests, and Lenana and Aberdares Halls, which can host up to 500 guests when combined.


Some of the other impressive meeting rooms in Nairobi are housed in the city's hotels, such as the 326-room InterContinental Nairobi, which can host up to 800 guests at one time; the 287-room Hilton Nairobi, which has 16,000 square feet of meeting space across 11 rooms; the 196-room Laico Regency Hotel, which has the largest ballroom in the city, along with eight other conference rooms, to host up to 800 guests; and the 162-room Crowne Plaza Nairobi, which has the Tana Ballroom for up to 600 guests.


When it comes to special meeting venues, Nairobi's unique offerings will surprise you. The Solar Ice Rink, which is located in the 136-room Panari Hotel's Sky Center, can host functions and corporate groups, as can Tamarind Nairobi, a seafood restaurant at the base of the National Bank Building.
