Highlights of Trondheim

Nidaros Cathedral

1. Nidaros Cathedral

Located in the middle of Trondheim city center, Nidaros Cathedral is the world’s Northernmost gothic cathedral and Norway’s national sanctuary. Built from 1070 over the tomb of St. Olav - the patron saint of Norway and the Viking king who brought Christianity to Norway.
Munkholmen Island

2. Munkholmen Island

Munkholmen was Trondheim's trial in the Viking Age. Just after the year 1000, a Benedictine monastery was built on the islet, probably one of the first two in the Nordic countries. Today you can visit the island for a guided tour of the fortress or for recreation and swimming.
Gamle Bybro (The Old Town Bridge)

3. Gamle Bybro (The Old Town Bridge)

Gamle Bybro was first built on this site in 1681, linking the city center to the Bakklandet Neighbourhood across the Nidelv River. The bridge is the perfect photo op spot for the colourful wharves.
