Located in the heart of Kempton park (Ekurhuleni) of Gauteng, the Oliver Tambo International Airport was founded in 1952. With more than 50% of South Africa's passengers traversing through it, O.R. Tambo is Africa's biggest and busiest airport. O.R. Tambo operates flights to many regional centers across the country, with airlines covering smaller towns as well. This airport is also one of the few in the world that has nonstop flights to all six inhabited continents.

Gautrain
Gautrain (pronounced as How-Train) is a safe rapid-transit option that links central Johannesburg (Park Station) with the main business districts of the north (Sandton and Rosebank). It even goes beyond to Pretoria, O.R. Tambo International, and various suburbs in between. Trains runs every 12 minutes during peak hours (5:30 am to 8:30 am and 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday), and every 20 to 30 minutes outside peak hours.

Taxis
Taxis in Johannesburg are relatively expensive. You can hail a taxi from outside your hotel. There are a very few places where you can hail a taxi in the street. It is advisable to book a taxi over the phone in advance. If your taxi does not have a meter, it is best to arrange a price at the start of your trip.

Buses
Jo'burg has the Rea Vaya Bus Rapid Transport System (BRT) which features a colorful and comfortable fleet. This bus service was introduced during the build-up to the 2010 world cup. These buses adhere to the timetables more strictly than metro lines.
