Nestled beside the Magaliesburg Protected Natural Environment, a wildlife park, Rustenburg is a small settlement of 70,000 people that was the smallest city to host games during the 2010 soccer World Cup, of which Rustenburg event venues still take pride.

The city is notable as a gateway to several huge game reserves. OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) is approximately 60 miles southeast of Rustenburg. Flights there come from all over the world, including from Atlanta, New York and Washington, DC-Dulles.
