San Mateo County enjoys warm summers, plentiful sunshine and comfortable breezes, as well as the fact that the region never experiences hot and cold extremes, as opposed to nearby San Francisco’s rapid temperature changes and frequent fog. September is the city’s warmest month, with an average high of 73°F and an average of low 55°F, while January is its coolest month, with an average high of 56°F and an average low of 43°F. San Mateo County sees an average of 21 inches of rainfall per year; January averages at 4.5 inches of rain, making it the city’s rainiest month.
