The fifth busiest airport in the world, and the second busiest in the United States, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is conveniently located about 45 minutes south of Santa Clarita.

Operating nearly 700 daily flights to 85 domestic cities and nearly 1,000 weekly nonstop flighs to 34 countries, LAX is currently undergoing a $14 billion modernization project, which has led to such improvements as a new international terminal. The airport’s nine passenger terminals are connected by a U-shaped two-level roadway. Passengers enjoy free shuttle service between all terminals and the airport’s remote parking lots, as well as free Wi-Fi and a wealth of restaurants, lounges, cafes, gift shops, and duty free shopping.

Bob Hope Airport is a gateway to and from the region for more than 4.5 million passengers per year. The airport provides non-stop service throughout the western United States, direct flights to New York City and connecting flights throughout the entire country. Seven major carriers operate out of Bob Hope Airport including American, Delta, and United Airlines.

Free shuttle bus service is provided from the Metro Green Line Aviation Station. Passengers wishing to use this shuttle bus service should wait under the LAX Shuttle & Airline Connections sign on the Lower/Arrival Level islands in front of each terminal, and board the "G" Shuttle.


Passengers also can take the "C" Shuttle from the same pick-up point to get to the Metro Bus Center, where they can board city buses serving the Los Angeles area. Information on city bus services is available by telephone on the Information Display Board in the baggage claim area in each terminal.


Other public bus authorities serving LAX are Culver City Bus Lines, Santa Monica Big Blue Bus, and Torrance Transit. (Click on each bus line name for contact information.) Passengers can pick up these buses at the Metro Bus Center in Lot C.

FlyAway Buses
The LAX FlyAway buses offer regularly scheduled round-trips seven days a week, between each terminal at LAX and these locations: Van Nuys (San Fernando Valley), Union Station (Downtown Los Angeles), Westwood (West Los Angeles/UCLA), Santa Monica (on the west side of 2nd Street, north of Colorado Ave.), Hollywood (northeast corner of Selma Ave. and Argyle Ave. - one block south of Hollywood Blvd.), Orange Line (south side of Victory Blvd., east of Woodley Ave., along the Metro Orange Line bus route), Long Beach (northwest corner of 1st St. and Long Beach Blvd. at Shelter A of the Long Beach Transit Gallery). Passengers leaving LAX may board buses on the Lower/Arrivals Level in front of each terminal under the green FlyAway Buses and Long Distance Vans sign. Each bus is marked with its service location.
Terminal to Terminal

Red bus offers transportation between Airport terminals free of charge; all buses are wheelchair-accessible. Buses run frequently with a maximum wait of ten minutes between shuttles. Car Rental
Approximately 40 rental car companies operate out of LAX, with vehicle rental sites located off the airport. Many of these rental car companies provide phone links inside or near the baggage claim areas on the Lower/Arrival Level of the terminals so travelers can request a free shuttle pick up to reach the rental car sites.
The following rental car companies are permitted to pick-up and drop-off their customers at the airline terminals using courtesy shuttles: Advantage, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Fox, Hertz, Midway, National, Payless, Sixt, and Thrifty.

Shuttles

Frequent courtesy shuttle service is provided between terminals to assist travelers in getting from one terminal to another for airline connections (A Route); and available to transport passengers to and from LAX Parking Lot C (C Route). Shuttle service is also provided to and from the Metro Rail Green Line Aviation Station (G Route). Travelers should board the LAX Shuttle under the LAX Shuttle & Airline Connections blue sign on the Lower/Arrivals Level islands in front of each terminal.


Many major airport-area hotels and privately operated parking lots provide courtesy transportation from LAX terminals. Stops for trams and shuttles for hotels and privately operated parking lots are located on the Lower/Arrival Level islands in front of each terminal under the red sign Hotel & Parking Lot Shuttles.

Long-distance, door-to-door van companies provide service from LAX to areas north of Los Angeles County. Passengers are encouraged to contact first for more information. These vans pick up passengers on the Lower/Arrivals Level islands in front of each terminal under the green sign FlyAway, Buses & Long Distance Vans.
Taxi

Taxis can be found curbside on the Lower/Arrival Level islands in front of each terminal under the yellow sign indicating Taxis. Passengers will be presented with a ticket stating typical fares to major destinations. Only authorized taxis with an official seal issued by City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation on each vehicle are permitted in the airport.


Ride Services

Lyft, Inc. and Rasier-CA, LLC (Uber) are authorized to provide pick-up services at LAX. Passengers can make a request once they are located on the terminal curbside. Authorized Transportation Network Companies may drop-off and pick-up passengers on the Airport Upper/Departures Level only. The airport fee applies to both a drop-off trip and to a pick-up trip. Signs that state “Ride Service Pick-Up” are positioned on the Upper/Departures Level to facilitate the meeting point.
Metro
Operated by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Metro consists of 200 bus lines and four rail lines traveling across the county.

Schedules for Metro vary based on route. Regular base fare is $1.25 and $0.55 for seniors. Day passes, good for local travel all day, are $5 for regular fare and $1.80 for seniors. Exact fare is required for buses. Tickets for the Metro rail system, including the Orange line, are purchased prior to boarding from self-service ticket vending machines.

Taxis
Taxi service is readily available throughout Santa Clarita and its surrounding areas. When traveling from the airport, bus station, train station, or cruise ship terminal, it is not necessary to call a taxi. Taxis park in these areas and are waiting for passengers upon their arrival.
Trolley
City of Santa Clarita’s Trolley Service offers visitors free trolley rides to and from Six Flags Magic Mountain & Six Flags Hurricane Harbor and select hotels. Please review the Trolley Brochure 2016 when planning your trip! Seating on the Trolley is on a first come, first served basis. Trolley transportation picks up and drops off visitors from the following hotels located in Santa Clarita: Courtyard by Marriott & Embassy Suites, Holiday Inn Express & Best Western, and Hyatt Regency.
Metrolink

Antelope Valley Line transports passengers to and from Los Angeles with three train stations in Santa Clarita making it easy to get back and forth to Los Angeles.
