New Haven via Air
While New Haven has its own airport, Tweed New Haven (NHV), groups are more likely to land in one of the airports of these cities and travel by car or by the Metro-North New Haven Line train.

Bradley International Airport (BDL) is Connecticut's airport and approximately # miles/ # hour minutes from the region. With two concourses serving most major airlines, Bradley has averaged over 6 million passengers per year.

New York City airports are often used for South and Western Connecticut locales: JFK International Airport (JFK) and LaGuardia (LGA) are approximately # miles/ # hour minutes from the region. Many groups are more likely to land in one of the airports of these cities and travel by car or by the Metro-North New Haven Line train.

Tweed New Haven Regional Airport (HVN)

Located just three miles from New Haven's business district, Tweed New Haven Regional Airport offers unmatched convenience. US Airways Express is currently the only airline operating at Tweed. The airline offers five daily flights to Philadelphia, allowing connections to destinations across the United States and the world. In fact, Tweed is the last stop from over 126 cities in the country.

The airport is currently in negotiations with surrounding municipalities to expand the facility's runway. This addition would allow for larger commercial aircraft to utilize the airport and would attract new carriers.

New Haven via Train
Rail service is available to Southern Connecticut via the Metro North - New Haven Line route runs directly from New York City through Stamford and Fairfield onto New Haven on a regular daily schedule. There are 37 stops on the Metro North through Fairfield county. Union station is a commuter rail hub on the New Haven Line.
From New Haven connections can be made on the Shoreline East on to Boston or CT Rail's Hartford Line through Hartford onto Springfield MA. Amtrak connects in New Haven with destinations to Maine, Vermont and Montreal, CA.


New Haven Union Station
Visitors wishing to travel to New Haven by way of train can take the Northeast Regional, Vermonter or the high-speed Acela Express line to New Haven's Union Station from points up and down the East Coast.
For travel between New Haven's Union Station and New York's Grand Central Station, New York City's Metro-North offers numerous departures throughout the day. Regular round-trip fares range from $28 to $37.

New Haven via Car
Getting around Connecticut is easy, only 2 1/2 hours border to border.
Interstate 95 runs along Connecticut’s Long Island Sound shoreline, providing a direct link to all points in the state, whether you come from New York City, Boston, MA or Providence, RI.
Interstate 91 heads north from New Haven (I-95 interchange) through Hartford, connecting with I-90 (Mass. Turnpike) north of Springfield, MA. It continues north through New England to Canada.

The Merritt Parkway (Connecticut Rt. 5 /15) links with New York State’s Hutchinson River Parkway in Greenwich, it becomes the Wilbur Cross Parkway near Bridgeport and links with I-91 in Meriden.

Interstate 84 enters Connecticut in Danbury (from New York State I-684) and runs northeast across the state to its link with I-90 in Sturbridge, Massachusetts on route to Boston. It also interchanges with I-91 at Hartford.


Interstate 395 enters the northeast corner of Connecticut in Thompson and continues south along the eastern border and through Norwich until it connects with I-95 in Waterford.
Ride Share in Connecticut

CTTRANSIT Bus Line
The Connecticut Department of Transportation's quick and efficient CTTRANSIT public bus service operates several routes throughout the greater New Haven area. Regular fares are $1.40 for youths ages 5-18, $1.75 for adults and 85 cents for seniors. An all-day pass is $2.80 for children and $3.50 for adults, while a 10-ride ticket is $12.60 for children and $15.75 for adults.
Shuttles
A number of limousine and shuttle bus companies operate out of Bradley International Airport and offer service to New Haven. Travelers can arrange for a three- or four-passenger sedan from the airport to New Haven for approximately $110. Additionally, some private shuttle bus companies offer regularly scheduled service from Bradley International to locations in New Haven.
Rates for one-way travel from the city to the airport are approximately $44. Round-trip tickets can be purchased for $84.
Rental Cars
Visitors flying into Tweed New Haven Regional Airport have their choice of utilizing either Avis or Hertz for their rental car needs. At Bradley International, a number of rental car companies operate on-airport locations including Alamo, Avis and Hertz. Dollar, Enterprise and Thrifty customers can easily access off-site services.
Taxis, Uber, and Lyft
Metro Taxi operates out of Tweed New Haven Regional Airport. Approximate fare from the airport to downtown New Haven is $23.
Abundant taxi cab service is also available at Bradley International Airport. Taxi fares to cities in Connecticut are fixed; the rate from Bradley International to New Haven is $170.
