Apopka

Known as the "Indoor Foliage Capital of the World," Apopka is surrounded by rich soil and small plant and vegetable farms. In recent years, the city has undergone a massive residential home building boom and evolved as a popular commuter community for Orlando. While Apopka event venues tend to serve the residential market, the town continues to grow.


Apopka is located 16 miles from downtown Orlando, 35 miles from Orlando International Airport, 24 miles from Orlando Sanford International Airport, 29 miles from the Orange County Convention Center and 31 miles from Walt Disney World.


There are two hotel venues in Apopka with limited meeting space: the 81-room Hampton Inn & Suites Orlando-Apopka and 77-room Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Orlando-Apopka, which each have 1,000 square feet of meeting space. Less than a 15-minute drive from Apopka are towns like Altamonte Springs and Maitland, which have national chain hotels.


Special event venues in Apopka include the popular Highland Manor, a large wood home dating back 110 years that's surrounded by huge oak trees. It has seven event spaces, including the Grand Ballroom & Veranda, which can accommodate up to 225 people for a banquet. For a lakefront facility, the Bear Lake Clubhouse, on the shores of the 310-acre spring-fed Bear Lake, is ideal for picnics and receptions for up to 200 in its special events room.


Golf-loving groups enjoy Apopka, which has golf courses like Rock Springs Ridge, Errol Estates, and Zellwood Station where attendees can relax after meetings. Fresh air enthusiasts enjoy the West Orange Trail, a 22-mile long, multi-use trail for bicyclists, walkers, joggers and roller-bladers that winds through towns like Oakland, Winter Garden and Ocoee.


Apopka's dining scene has several down-home options like the Catfish Place and Porkie's Original BBQ; and ethnic possibilities such as El Patron Mexican Restaurant and Cantina, Garibaldi's Mexican Restaurant and Cafe Positano. Breakfast lovers gravitate to Perkins Restaurant and Bakery.
