An upscale, palm-studded suburban city about 15 minutes north of Miami, Aventura is best known as the home to such Aventura event venues as the Turnberry Isle Resort; and Aventura Mall, one of the largest indoor malls in the U.S.
Situated one mile west of the Atlantic Ocean, Aventura is located 12 miles from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, 19 miles from Miami International Airport, 12 miles from downtown Miami and 11 miles from downtown Fort Lauderdale.
Chief among hotel venues in Aventura is the 408-room Turnberry Isle Miami, a fashionable, Mediterranean-style resort that looks as if it had been airdropped in from the French Riviera. Set across the street from Aventura Mall, Turnberry Isle has 40,000 square feet of meeting space and amenities such as a spa, fitness center, private beach club and two golf courses. Other accommodations options in the city include the 166-room Courtyard Miami Aventura Mall with 1,000 square feet of meeting space and the 180-room Days Hotel-Thunderbird Beach Resort with 2,000 square feet of meeting space.
A culturally rich community, the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center, with a waterfront setting, is an excellent possibility for lectures and concerts. Facilities include a 326-seat theater, 40' x 30' stage, state-of-the-art lighting and sound package and high-end concessions.
Beyond the beaches, yachting and sailing, the favorite pastime in Aventura seems to be shopping, especially at the Aventura Mall, which has more than 280 shops, including anchor stores like Bloomingdale's, Nordstrom, and Macy's and specialty shops such as Ann Taylor, Aldo, and Urban Outfitters. For golf, the two 18-hole layouts at Turnberry Isle are highly rated by many golf publications and websites; the nearby Greynolds Golf Course and Diplomat Golf Resort are also popular plays.
Most of the best dining venues in Aventura are located at shopping complexes like Aventura Mall, Shoppes at the Waterways and Town Center Aventura. Among the choices at Aventura Mall are Bella Luna, Nordstrom Cafe Bistro, and The Cheesecake Factory.
