First established as a military flight training school, today Augusta Regional Airport serves as the travel hub for the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA). The only CSRA airport that serves both commercial and civil aviation flights, Augusta Regional Airport is situated nine miles from downtown Augusta. The airport provides daily service to Atlanta and Charlotte, carrying more than 550,000 passengers per year. Airport amenities include dining and shopping outlets, free Wi-Fi, free baggage carts and free shuttle service from the long-term parking area to the terminal. Those parking at the airport get the first 40 minutes free, and then pay an hourly maximum of $9 per day and a daily maximum of $7 per day.

Augusta Public Transit

Augusta Public Transit runs nine fixed routes, ADA service and its Richmond Rural Transit service throughout Augusta and Richmond County. Route 1 Walton Way provides service throughout downtown Augusta, while the Richmond Rural Transit line serves the outlying areas of McBean, Blythe, and Hephzibah. Buses run Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. One-way fare is $1.25 for adults and $0.60 for youth passengers, while transfers are $0.50 for adults and $0.25 for youth passengers, weekly passes $15 for adults and $7.50 for youth passengers, and monthly passes $50 for adults and $25 for youth passengers.
