Chicago is one of largest passenger rail hubs in the United States. Traveling in and out of downtown Union Station, travelers can reach major cities all across the continental United States.

Chicago Union Station serves numerous Amtrak routes: California Zephyr (Chicago to Emeryville, California); Capitol Limited (Chicago to Washington, DC); Cardinal/Hoosier State (New York City to Chicago); City of New Orleans (Chicago to New Orleans); Empire Builder (Chicago to Portland/Seattle); Hiawatha (Chicago to Milwaukee); Illinois Service (Chicago to Quincy, Missouri, St. Louis, and Carbondale, Illinois); Lake Shore Limited (New York City and Boston to Chicago); Michigan Services (Chicago to Grand Rapids, Pontiac and Detroit); Missouri Routes (Chicago to Kansas City); Southwest Chief (Chicago to Los Angeles); and Texas Eagle (Chicago to San Antonio).

Naperville Chicago Transit Authority (CTA)
The CTA operates a bus system and a rapid transit system, known as the "L," in Chicago. The L Train runs on eight routes, designated as Yellow, Red, Brown, Blue, Green, Pink, Purple and Orange. The Blue line has a stop at the O'Hare International Airport, while the Orange line stops at Midway International. Metra Commuter Rail
Serving all of northeast Illinois, Metra provides Naperville service aboard the BNSF Railway line, which runs daily between Aurora and Chicago's Union Station and connects to 15 Pace bus routes. The Naperville Metra station, located at 105 East 4th Avenue, is open daily from 5:00 am to 7:30 pm, with an agent on duty Monday through Friday from 5:25 am to 1:00 pm. Metra fare is based on a zone system; service between Naperville and Chicago is $6.75 one way or $50.25 for a 10-ride pass. Passengers may purchase an $8 weekend pass, which covers unlimited Saturday and Sunday rides.

Pace Suburban Bus System
Serving 130,000 daily riders along 240 routes and a 3,500-square-mile service area, Pace serves as the major bus system for the entire Chicago area. Pace operates 25 commuter and neighborhood routes with service to Naperville, with many routes running Monday through Saturday. Regular one-way adult fare is $1.75.

Amtrak
The Naperville Amtrak station is located at 105 East 4th Avenue. Station hours are Monday through Friday from 5:30 am to 6:30 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am to 6:30 pm. The Naperville station connects passengers with the Southwest Chief line, which runs daily between Chicago and Los Angeles; the California Zephyr line, which runs daily between Chicago and San Francisco; and the Illinois Service line, which provides daily service to such locations as Chicago, St. Louis, and Carbondale.

Greyhound
Naperville Greyhound service is available at 1090 North Route 59 in Naperville, as well as at the Naperville train station at 105 East 4th Avenue. Both Naperville Greyhound stops are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
