Getting Around Bloomington

Serving more than 7 million passengers per year, 1.2 million-square-foot Indianapolis International was unveiled in November 2008. Located just 50 miles north of Bloomington, the Indianapolis International Airport offers more than 150 daily flights to 35 nonstop destinations.

Bloomington Transit Bus SystemThe Bloomington Transit Bus System operates 14 routes throughout the city, with daily service to such major sites as Indiana University and the Bloomington Monroe County Convention Center. Bus fare is $1 each ride, while a 10-ride pass costs $10 and a month-long pass costs $30. Children ages 4 and under ride free.Bloomington Shuttle ServiceThe Bloomington Shuttle provides direct service to the Indianapolis International Airport, with nine daily circulations between the airport, Indiana University and major Bloomington hotels. Service hours run from 4:40 AM to 10:40 PM. Shuttle service costs $15 per passenger one way.Rental CarsRental car agencies Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty are represented at the Indianapolis International Airport. Agency counters are located in the airport's Ground Transportation Center.TaxisVisitors to Bloomington can access several taxi companies outside of the Indianapolis International Airport's Ground Transportation Center. Visitors should expect to pay about $100 in taxi fare for the 50-mile trip from the airport to Bloomington. While in Bloomington, taxis can be hailed from hotel taxi stands.
