Once home to famed playwright Tennessee Williams, the quintessential Southern town of Columbus boasts historic locations with down-home charm. Columbus event venues include landmark properties, country clubs and restaurants. Less than half a day's drive from Nashville, Memphis, New Orleans and Tuscaloosa, Columbus can be accessed through Golden Triangle Regional Airport (GTR), which has nonstop flights to to Delta Air Lines’ Atlanta hub. International airports in Memphis and Birmingham are about a two-and-a-half-hour drive. The Trotter Convention Center is one of the largest event venues in Columbus. Spanning 15,000 square feet, the center can accommodate 1,600 people theater-style or 500 guests for banquets. It's also perfect for trade shows and exhibitions, comfortably fitting 100 eight-foot-by-10-foot booths. The center's meeting space includes three breakout rooms and an auditorium, as well as a lobby and gallery. Additional meeting space for large conventions can be found at the Plymouth Bluff Environmental Center. Part of the Mississippi University for Women, the facility includes an 11,700-square-foot conference building with several multi-purpose meeting rooms, a 100-seat auditorium and a dining room that can be rented with its adjacent foyer/lounge. Plymouth Bluff also offers its scenic lakeside amphitheater for up to 100 guests and an outdoor pavilion for 48 guests. In addition to these event venues, Columbus is brimming with historic locations that groups will love. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Stephen D. Lee Home is a stunning backdrop for dinners, luncheons and private parties of 50 or more people. With its Greek-Revival facade and 4.5-acre lawn, Rosewood Manor is a breathtaking venue, available for garden receptions among its 3,000 boxwoods. The Puckett House, Cartney-Hunt House and Waverly Mansion are among the other historic venues in Columbus. Also popular is the Lion Hills Country Club. Home to an 18-hole golf course designed by John Frazier, the club has a 20,000-square-foot clubhouse with several options for banquets. The Fairway Room and The Old Grill Room each seat 40 guests and are perfect for intimate meetings and presentations, while the spacious ballroom can seat 225 guests.
