Conveniently located between New York City and Albany, Kingston is 91 miles north of New York City and 59 miles south of Albany. The area is served by Kingston-Ulster airport, located at the western base of the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge. The nearest major airports to Kingston are Stewart International Airport about 38 miles south in Newburgh, and Albany International Airport approximately 65 miles north.

Nearby, in Poughkeepsie, is the Mid-Hudson Civic Center.
