Weather and Seasonality

As the heart of the Northwest, Seattle has a mild, “Marine West Coast” climate and tends to have dry summers and wet winters. In the past, summers have been recorded to hit 100°F, with temperatures dropping as low as 35°F in the wintertime.

While the effects of Puget Sound and Lake Washington are partially responsible for an overcast weather pattern, it is mostly caused by the fluctuating patterns of the Pacific Ocean.

The ideal time to visit the city is between June and September, but book your travel in advance, as hotels and tours sell out as far as six to eight weeks in advance during this peak season. If you don't mind a little cooler weather, great bargains can be found during the shoulder season from October to April.
