The ‘’Grand Dame of Durban” was built in 1911 and has an ambience of stylish elegance and sophisication with outstanding personal service.For delicious meals in a relaxed setting, sample the delights of the 120 seater Brasserie & Terrace Restaurants a la carte menu or tempt your taste buds with tempting buffet treats. Hotel room service is available from 06h30 – 22h30, while the 30 seater Causerie Bar is open for cocktails and sundowners from 16h00.Extensive conference facilities are available, while the largest function room can hold up to 250 guests in cinema style and 160 guests for a banquet dinner. We cater for full and half day conferences, seminars, presentations, gala dinners, award evenings, cocktail parties, road shows and is the ideal wedding venue.The Protea Hotel Edward consists of 7 floors and 101 bedrooms, of which there are 25 standard rooms, 15 twin rooms, which are partially sea-facing. Sea-facing rooms comprise of 20 Superior Kings, 20 Deluxe Twins, 11 Family rooms, 3 Junior Suites, 6 Deluxe Suites and the Oppenheimer Suite.
