...There is something surprising afoot at the Bata Shoe Museum. This unique Toronto gem chronicles the history of footwear from cultures throughout the world. Housed in architect Raymond Moriyama's award-winning four-story building cleverly designed to resemble a shoe box, the museum contains 10,000 examples from over 4,500 years of history. Additionally, it holds a collection of 20th century celebrity shoes including a pair of Elton John's sky-high platforms.
The exhibits not only showcase the intricate craftsmanship of examples as wide ranging as European Rococo period mules to 19th century Cherokee Tribe moccasins, but they uncover telling details about the cultural history of the people that wore them. Not just for footwear fanciers, the Bata Shoe Museum is a Toronto treat.
The museum is open Monday through Wednesday and Friday and Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM, Thursday from 10 AM to 8 PM and Sunday from noon to 5 PM. Admission is C$4 for children ages 5-17, C$12 for adults and C$10 for seniors.

Located along on the eastern edge of Toronto, the Scarborough Bluffs rise 65 meters above the water and stretch for nearly 14 kilometers along Lake Ontario. A phenomenal record of the ice age, the layers of sand and clay contain remarkable fossilized plants and animals deposited 70,000 years ago. The bluffs are home to Bluffers Park, which features a sandy beach, picnic areas, marina, walks and lookouts.
