The Metro Toronto Convention Centre is an industry leader in environmental sustainability. We are proud to say that our efforts have been recognized through various awards and recognitions, which include: 2017 BOMA Outstanding Building of the Year Award (TOBY) – Public Assembly: This prestigious recognition is awarded to facilities with the highest levels of quality in many categories of building operations including energy conservation, building performance, security standards and community impact. BOMA Certificate of Building Excellence: We received this award in recognition of our high standards and excellence in areas including operations, community impact, sustainability, conservation and building management. 2016 The Canadian Association of Exposition Management (CAEM): The Give Back Award: The Give Back Award recognizes a member organization who, not for financial reasons, has contributed to the enhancement of their community, within the past year. This award was received as a result of our Corporate Social Responsibility Program which works to incorporate community involvement and social responsibility into the fabric of our culture. 2014 Canadian Green Building Council (CaGBC): LEED Gold Facility for Existing Buildings: Our South Building received this certification from LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), a highly rigorous international certification analyzing all operations and maintenance. Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO) Sustainable Tourism Award: This award was received as a result of the success of our waste diversion program. Green Meeting Council’s ASTM/APEX Environmentally Sustainable Event Standard for Meeting Venue: We were the first conference venue in Canada to receive this award, which recognized the high standards achieved in environmentally sustainable meetings, trade shows, and conferences. 2012 Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO) Sustainable Tourism Award: This award was received for our Local Food Program and ongoing Sustainability Program. BOMA BEST Level 3 Certification for Energy and Environmental Management: We received recognition for environmental leadership within the commercial real estate industry.
