Convention Centers
Austin Convention Center (Under Construction)
The Austin Convention Center is embarking on an exciting transformation that will redefine its role in downtown Austin. Beginning in April 2025, the city is launching a comprehensive redevelopment project to create the Convention Center of tomorrow. This ambitious expansion aims to deliver a larger, more efficient facility on a smaller footprint, transforming the space into a more active and community-friendly event destination.

The new, larger Austin Convention Center will significantly increase the rentable square footage of the facility to 620,000 square feet and promises to enhance Austin's capacity to host world-class conventions and events. The new Austin Convention Center is expected to be the world's first zero-carbon-certified convention center (International Living Futures Institute), supporting Austin's image as a leader in sustainable urban development and setting a new standard for convention centers across the globe.

The Convention Center is set to reopen in early 2029. In the meantime, Austin remains committed to welcoming meetings and conventions with the same vibrant Austin experience that planners and attendees have come to love. This catalyst project represents a bold vision for downtown Austin's future, promising to create an even more dynamic and engaging hub for events and gatherings.
