Montreux Music & Convention Centre — 2m2c beschikt over 18.000 vierkante meter aan evenementenruimte en 23 vergaderzalen tussen twee onderling verbonden gebouwen met glazen wanden, ontworpen om optimaal te profiteren van het uitzicht op het Meer van Genève en de Alpen. Tot de evenementenruimtes behoort het Auditorium Stravinski met 1.800 zitplaatsen, dat bekend staat om zijn uitzonderlijke akoestiek.

Elk jaar, gedurende de eerste twee weken van juli, komen meer dan 220.000 mensen naar Montreux om de concerten van dit festival bij te wonen, in grote concertzalen of op straat. Het werd in 1967 opgericht door Claude Nobs en is in de loop der jaren steeds populairder geworden, omdat het de grootste artiesten heeft aangetrokken, zoals Miles Davis, Ray Charles, David Bowie of Prince. Jazzmuziek vormde de historische wortels van het festival, maar andere muziekstijlen vonden al snel hun plaats binnen het festival.

Het Casino Barrière de Montreux is het enige casino in Franstalig Zwitserland dat geen limiet heeft op weddenschappen en winsten. Het casino werd geopend in 1881 en werd gebruikt voor concerten tijdens het Montreux Jazz Festival, evenals een opnamestudio waar Queen hun album „Made in Heaven” opnam. In 1971 vloog het casino in brand tijdens een concert van Frank Zappa, dat de inspiratie vormde voor het beroemde nummer van Deep Purple, „Smoke on the Water”.
