In the heart of downtown Amarillo, on the cusp of Route 66, The Barfield typifies the ever-evolving history of this iconic city. Built in the 1920s, The Barfield was Amarillo’s first skyscraper and played host to the city’s illustrious business empire. Today, it pays homage to its heritage with Art Deco design and a historic elevator lobby. Meanwhile downstairs, in true Prohibition style, Amarillo’s ‘worst kept secret’, the Paramount Recreation Club, tempts visitors and locals alike with a warm welcome and a hotly anticipated cocktail.Just steps away from Polk Street, guests will find a number of quirky boutiques and eateries nearby. Or in the hotel’s Toscana Italian Steakhouse, discover a true taste of West Texas with a hint of Italian charm.
