Let’s meet in A Room with a ZOO in Antwerp! A Room with a ZOO (ARwaZ) is part of the Elisabeth Center complex and is located in the celebrated Antwerp ZOO. It is situated just ten minutes’ walk from the historic city centre and next door to Central Station, a wonderful high speed rail cathedral. Proximity is key: Just hop off the train direct from London and a few short steps later you will enter our convention centre. For flight arrivals the international airport is only 30 minutes drive away. Conveniently located in the centre of Europe, A Room with a ZOO is your perfect meeting destination! The convention centre can receive up to 2,700 participants and offers over 25,000 m² of conference space (30 rooms), as well as a wonderful choice of highly desirable social activities such as underwater dining or a stroll through the sleeping ZOO. A Room with a ZOO offers you an experience beyond space. The 1,880-seat Queen Elisabeth Auditorium is the icing on the cake. One of the first scientific ZOOs in the world The venue is the only convention centre in the world with a ZOO on site: a ZOO with its own award-winning science and research centre, and managed according to the highest standards of animal welfare of EAZA and WAZA, the international associations of zoos which was co-founded by the Antwerp ZOO. Scientific research is in the DNA of the ZOO. Science is practiced and applied in the Antwerp ZOO, but also in research stations abroad, in the ZOO’s lab, under our supervision in universities and, above all, in the zoological research centre "the Centre for Research and Conservation" (CRC). Since the official start in 2000 this research centre has grown into one of the most advanced zoological research centres worldwide. The ZOO’s scientists and experts are leaders in their fields, which include genetics, animal behaviour, animal welfare, veterinary medicine and animal morphology. With this expertise we work together in research projects related to three main themes: animal welfare, nature conservation and basic zoology research.
