Marlow's Tavern

"Marlow's Tavern features the Best of the Best in American tavern fare served in a modern atmosphere. The menu offers a diverse combination of classic dishes that are updated and elevated to gourmet level. Marlow's Tavern has a warm neighborhood yet contemporary feel that is the perfect complement to John Metz's modern-tavern menu. Metz's partner Thomas DiGiorgio, the president of DK Group, a Florida-based architectural development and contract firm, designed Marlow's Tavern. DiGiorgio focused on modern comfort utilizing a black and white motif to create a sleek fashionable look that is accented by black and white photographs and Chicago style brick walls. A neighborhood feel is also accomplished with an open kitchen that invites diners to observe the chefs at work, communal tables in the bar and large cozy booths as part of the bar feel. Several flat screen plasma TVs are discreetly incorporated, in-the-round, allowing guests to enjoy a variety of shows while they dine. Marlow's is a meeting place for all seasons with spacious patios that are open year round allowing guests to enjoy cocktails and tavern specials under the stars." - Hours: Breakfast: 6am - 10am MON & TUES: 10am - 11pm WED & THURS: 10am - Midnight FRI & SAT: 10am - 1am SUN: 10am - 11pm / Brunch: 10am - 3pm

Atlantic Station

12 mi. away
"Pushing the envelopes of urban renewal and multi-use development, Atlantic Station stands poised to emerge as one of the nation's most dynamic districts. Reasons to visit this red-brick "city unto itself" are legion: Popular specialty stores like West Elm and Banana Republic stand alongside busy eateries like The Grape, Geisha House, and California Pizza Kitchen. There's also a 16-screen Regal Cinema, a grocery store, and the first IKEA in the Southeast. Atlantic Station is much more than an open-air shopping center, though, thanks to park areas, wide pedestrian-only corridors, and plenty of luxury lofts and apartments. Heck, the place even has its own zip code!" -10Best "It covers about 10 square blocks, clustered around a green space known as Central Park. Retailers range from IKEA and Dillard's to Banana Republic and Z Gallerie. It's easy to reach by car, but is also accessible by free shuttle buses from the Arts Center MARTA station. An on-site concierge is happy to help you find your way around or make dinner reservations at the more than a dozen restaurants." -Fodors

Stone Mountain Park

Historical Landmark
10 mi. away
"Georgia's Stone Mountain Park is designed in the outskirts of the busy city of Atlanta. It is a huge theme park to enjoy with friends and family. The park centers on the incredible natural rock structure which is pegged as the biggest exposed piece of granite on the earth by a number of books. This rock is a wonder by itself, but the main attraction of the Georgia Stone Mountain is the Stone Mountain carving or bas relief on its northern side, which is also considered to be the biggest bas-relief in the world. Three figures of Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis of the Confederate States of America are carved on it. Sky Hike, which has re-opened, is another attraction at the park. Climb to new heights on Sky Hike and trek through the treetops. A visit to the Crossroads transports visitors to a feel of a 1870s southern town busy with activities only seen in history books. Summit Skyride is very popular as this fast Swiss cable car offers a spectacular view of the Confederate Memorial Carving. An all inclusive pass to Stone Mountain Park includes access to most of the attractions at park, including the unforgettable Summit Skyride and a variety of shows, from animals to storytelling for the entertainment of the whole family. Stone Mountain Park can be visited any time of the year. It also offers delicious southern cuisine and exclusive handcrafted gifts. There is unlimited access to the activities at Stone Mountain with the parking permit. It also includes 15 miles of hiking trails and the famous Stone Mountain laser show. Stone Mountain also offers activities like cycling, boating, fishing as well as the classic riverboat cruise and an exciting train ride." -Kosmix

Additional Information

"Despite what the last reviewer says, this Doubletree exceeded my expectations. The front-desk welcome and check-in process was easy and very friendly. Our room was clean, updated, and well-maintained. Modern appointments included the flat-screen TV, microwave, mini-fridge, and updated decor. Beds were comfortable and situated on blocks, so that families with small children aren't in danger of leaving things under the bed! Bathroom was small, but perfectly appointed with marble counter-tops and a shower fit for even tall people. Wi-fi and room service are also available. There is a business center with complimentary internet and printing, as well as many nice conference rooms. The lobby bar is open for breakfast (although a bit expensive), and the attached eatery, Marlow's, was excellent and not a typical hotel restaurant. Their menu is diverse, great wine/beer selection, and staff was very friendly. Food was excellent, and it's a great place to watch sports, as well! The hotel is very convenient to the interstate, as well as Mercer University. While there aren't too many moderate/high-end restaurants nearby, there is a shopping mall, Starbucks, several fast food places, and a great place called the Twisted Taco. Our experience was a positive one, and we will happily return next time we are in the Atlanta area." --BigBirdWashington - 10/19/2010 - "I have stayed at this hotel several times over the past year. Service is consistently good. Room are newly decorated and are comforable. Doubletree Northlake is one THE best value around. -- Marlow's restaurant on site is superb. -- The staff is friendly and polite." --garyinga - 02/01/2011 -
