Die Mission des Atlanta Botanical Garden ist die Entwicklung und Pflege von Pflanzensammlungen für Ausstellung, Bildung, Forschung, Konservierung und Genuss. Der Garten enthält verschiedene Landschaften, in denen eine Vielzahl von Pflanzen ausgestellt sind. In der Nähe des Eingangs befinden sich formelle Gärten wie der japanische Garten und der Rosengarten. Zwei Waldgebiete, das 5 Hektar große Upper Woodland und das 10 Hektar große Storza Woods, zeichnen sich durch große Bäume und schattenliebende Blumen und Unterholz aus. Der Children's Garden bietet skurrile Skulpturen, Springbrunnen und interpretative Ausstellungen zu Botanik, Ökologie und Ernährung.
