Gestern war Barbizon ein riesiger Weiler von Holzarbeitern. Aber als Corot, Rousseau, Millet und Diaz de la Pena auftauchten, wurde es zwischen 1830 und 1870 zum Schauplatz der modernen Gemälderevolution.
Sie werden die „Kolonisten“, die „Landschaftsgestalter“ genannt. Sie kamen zu Fuß von Chailly nach Barbizon, wo das Ehepaar Ganne sie in ihrem Gasthaus begrüßte, um zum Treffpunkt aller Künstler zu werden. Die Maler liebten fast alles im Dorf: das Licht im Unterholz, die dunklen Farben der hohen Bäume, die stürmischen Wolken, die Jahreszeit oder die täglichen Veränderungen der Natur. Auf der Rückseite stand die Staffelei, sie hatten keine Studien mehr und gingen in die Ebene oder in den Wald, um die Natur „zu Hause“ zu überraschen.
Heute hat Barbizon, das „Ökologie-Reiseziel der damaligen Zeit“, seinen Reiz mit Häusern aus Stein und Efeu, seinen Gärten voller Rosen bewahrt und ist bis heute das „Dorf der Maler“, der Maler aller Zeiten.

This new way of discovering a city via a walking tour with various challenges is a great way to learn about its history and discover its layout.
Simple And Fun
Each Tourist Scavenger Hunt is around 40 steps, 2-3 hours in duration on a 3-4km circuit which brings you back to the start.
