About us

Set in the former Midland Bank building in the City of London, just steps from Bank Station, The Ned hosts 250 bedrooms, restaurants and bars alongside a range of men’s and women’s wellness and grooming services. The Grade I-listed building was designed by Sir Edwin 'Ned' Lutyens in 1924. Each bedroom at The Ned features elements of design back to the 1920's and 1930’s and includes vintage pieces, patterned furnishings and rainforest showers. The former Grand Banking Hall is host to 10 restaurants and bars which serve a wide range of cuisines, from British to Northern Italy, North America and Asia. On the 6th floor, six private hire rooms and two terraces are at guests’ disposal all complete with a reception area. Ned’s Club Spa offers a variety of treatments – from manicures and pedicures, to massages and hair services. The private member's spaces, Ned's Club Gym and Ned's Club Spa pool may be accessed through purchasing day passes, subject to availability. The property is within a short walk from St. Paul’s Cathedral and within 15 minutes from Oxford Street and the West End, by tube. Bank Station also offers a direct DLR connection to London City Airport, which can be reached in 30 minutes. Groups & Events The Ned's six private hire rooms and two terraces are among the building's most elegant spaces, with all benefiting from natural light, and a dedicated reception area. Ideal for weddings, events and meetings, the rooms have a capacity of between 10 and 200 people. Ned’s Club Ned’s Club, available to members, offers a range of rooms and facilities. Dominating the belly of the building is the bank’s original vault, with its twenty tonne, two-metre-wide door, which will house Ned's Club Downstairs and the Vault Room lounge bar. The vault contains over 3,000 stainless steel safety deposit boxes and inspired the design of Fort Knox in the 1964 film Goldfinger. Ned's Club Active has cardio, strength and training equipment, a boxing gym, Pilates, yoga studio and House Ride (spinning). At Ned's Club Relax, the spa, there is a 20 metre swimming pool, sauna and steam room. Bedrooms Brass and mahogany furniture, chandeliers and richly patterned furnishings decorate The Ned's 250 bedrooms. Each room channels 1920s and 1930s design, with vintage pieces, hand-knotted Afghan rugs and rainforest showers. Eating & Drinking Ten public restaurants in the former Grand Banking Hall serve food that spans the globe, from British cuisine to Northern Italy, North America and Asia-Pacific. The offering includes a Cecconi’s – Italian, Millies Lounge – British, Nickel Bar, Malibu Kitchen – Californian , Cantina – Mexican, Kaia -Japanese, Electric Diner – American & Lutyens Grill – 38th Best steak restaurant in the World. The Nickel Bar and Library bar offer cocktails and a light snacks menu.

Pier 17 New York
Pier 17 New York
New York
Located in New York City’s founding neighborhood, Pier 17 is drenched in history. A stone’s throw from the Financial District and The World Trade Center, the area has more recently been synonymous with Wall Street workers and tourists visiting the 9/11 Memorial. But this summer changes all that with the re-launch of Pier 17 at the Seaport District NYC. Home to the Seaport Museum and the city’s largest concentration of restored maritime buildings, Pier 17 is being reclaimed for New Yorkers via dynamic food, drink, art, architecture, retail, and entertainment concepts that foster community and engage the city’s denizens, year-round. Pier 17 and the surrounding Seaport District comes out of its tourist trap shadows as its new tenants incorporate the neighborhood’s rich past, while embracing its future as a port of discovery. For history buffs, Pier 17 is one of the most interesting places in NYC. The economic growth of New York in the first half of the 19th century was driven by the Port of New York’s position as an import–export exchange and cargo center for emerging American and global markets. The Seaport and Pier 17 became a gateway for international shipping, maritime activities and the wholesale fish trade. South Street was known as the “Street of Ships” and the Wavertree, which is docked alongside Pier 17 to this day, arrived in New York City in 1895 en route to Calcutta with jute cargo aboard. The ship was acquired by the South Street Seaport Museum in 1968 and went through a 16-month, $13 million restoration. “These are the kinds of ships that built New York,” says Jonathan Boulware, executive director of the South Street Seaport Museum. A hub of commercial virtue (the finance, sea trade and printing press businesses were all located in this dense port) and accompanying vice (the area is home to some of the city’s oldest drinking dens, which played host to all manner of illicit activities back in the day), the Seaport was the first 24-hour district in New York, hence the phrase “the city that never sleeps”.

Husk
Husk
Nashville
Located in Rutledge Hill – just a few blocks south of Historic Broadway, in the heart of Downtown Nashville – Husk, from The Neighborhood Dining Group, is reinterpreting the bounty of the surrounding area, exploring an ingredient-driven cuisine that begins in the rediscovery of heirloom products and redefines what it means to cook and eat in Nashville. At Husk, there are some rules about what can go on the plate. If it doesn’t come from the South, it’s not coming through the door. The resulting cuisine is not about rediscovering Southern cooking, but rather exploring the reality of Southern food. Seed-saving, heirloom husbandry, in-house pickling and charcuterie programs by Executive Chef Ben Norton and his culinary team are the basis of Husk’s cuisine. Husk Nashville, located at 37 Rutledge Street, was constructed into the side of a hill between 1879 and 1882 by Dr. John Bunyan Stephens. Its storied history includes serving as Mayor Richard Houston Dudley’s home, where he lived when elected in 1897. The area was settled by the Rutledge and Middleton families of Charleston who were descendants of two of the original South Carolina signers of the Declaration of Independence. Mayor Dudley added the Carriage House located on property in 1890–which will serve as a space to satisfy the restaurant’s culinary whims and host private/special events. The design of the Husk’s interior spaces enhances the building’s roots while demonstrating a sense of Southern style, modernity, energy, and cosmopolitan flair.

Sustainable Practices

Please provide comments or a link to any publicly communicated The Ned London's sustainability or social impact goals/strategy.
The Ned prides itself on being a hotel that seeks to do the right thing in every aspect of our business. We have achieved silver level accreditation with the Green Tourism Board and are committed to achieving gold level accreditation through our Green Committee, who promote responsible and eco-efficient use of our resources. The Ned’s Green Committee meet each quarter to discuss and prioritise environmental issues. Its members have volunteered their time and between them they cover all aspects of the hotel including food and beverage, finance, communications, engineering, people and development and front office. REDUCING WASTE In the past year The Ned increased its total amount of recycling to 50%. We sent zero waste to landfill. With the exception of food, cardboard and glass which were recycled, all remaining waste was incinerated at a local plant which produced power for local homes. We also reduced the number of waste removal trucks on the road by aligning with the same service the local council uses. We have also removed paper towels from our public bathrooms and use solely hand dryers instead. REDUCING USE OF SINGLE PLASTIC Since 2019, The Ned has reduced the number of single use plastics included in our bedroom’s amenities from 37 items to five by exchanging plastics to rice paper packaging or compostable alternatives. We also added sustainable bamboo toothbrushes and cotton buds, ear plugs, and slippers, as well as switching to 60% recycled plastic key cards for all rooms. OFFERING GREENER COWSHED PRODUCTS We reformulated the product and packaging of Cowshed body products to remove parabens, mineral oils, petrolatum, sulphates, silicones and animal ingredients, and continued to ensure there was no animal testing. All of our plastic bottles are now made from renewable sugar cane and the boxes are made from recycled coffee cups, both of which are 100% recyclable. OFFERING SUSTAINABLE SOHO SKIN PRODUCTS Soho Skin are committed to working towards a circular economy and have applied these principles to the development of the range. Every ingredient Soho Skin use is non-eco toxic and our packaging and componentry is widely recyclable. This includes the use of FSC paper and glass bottles across the majority of the range. All formulas are vegan and the company is listed by Cruelty Free International as an approved Leaping Bunny brand, the internationally recognisable gold standard for cruelty free products.
