The Ruahatu (God of the Ocean) Lagoon Sanctuary is a research facility where the marine environment not only thrives but grows, furthering the delicate and wondrous ecosystem. In partnership with WiseOceans, Four Seasons has created a bespoke Marine Discovery Program led by our marine biologists Louise Sabadel and Mathilde Maslin. Here, guests participate in a number of interactive experiences, including snorkeling, coral grafting discovery, discussions on Polynesian ecology, fish and octopus feeding and more. Home to over 100 colorful species the Lagoon Sanctuary is home to octopus, eagle ray, lizardfish, Picasso trumpet fish, soldier fish, fire fish, unicorn fish, spotted puffer fish, parrotfish, peacock damselfish, clownfish and butterfly fish. Sea urchins, anemones and shrimp are also present, along with many other native species of marine life. While guided snorkeling tours of the lagoon are offered to guests and the lagoon is always open for guests to explore on their own.

Your driver for this off-road, 4WD excursion will take you to places only accessible via Land Rover. Navigate the steep terrain as you drive through the small town of Vaitape on the shore of Pofai Bay, then ascend Pahonu Hill. Here, you will find expansive views of Bora Bora's natural harbor and Matira Beach. You will then continue on for a second ascent, more offroad adventure, to explore the World War II sites that the Americans built during their friendly occupation of the island in 1942. Next, you will travel along Bora Bora's north shore for a visit to the lush valley of Fa'anui. Your journey will conclude with spectacular viewsnd photo opportunities of Fa'anui Bay from a traditional plantation high up in the mountains.
