Arising from the mediaeval village of only three inhabitants, it was entirely revamped in 2019 with 26 rooms, suites and villas. Deeply rooted in local heritage and tradition, San Canzian was entirely revamped as a boutique haven with authentic Istrian flair. Twenty-six rooms, suites and villas are individually styled and inspired by the aesthetics of an old stone-built Istrian village. A subtle blend of rustic and modern elements, minimalistic and traditional furnishings, custom artworks and state-of-the-art amenities provide ultimate comfort and an unforgettable stay. Architectural accents celebrate natural imperfections of wood and stone and create a profound countryside luxury experience that is distinctly San Canzian. With local traditions as endless source of inspiration, Michelin-recommended Luciano Restaurant celebrates the gourmet heritage of Istria. Our young and talented chef Pavo Klarić and his team add a sophisticated touch to local flavours and create a haven of culinary mastery. With views verging on divine, the resplendent outdoor pool and bar are the place to be under the warm Istrian sun. Sweeping vistas of idyllic countryside, stretching as far as the Adriatic and the Italian coast, create a dramatic backdrop for dreamy sunsets and refreshing dips. Nooks and crannies scattered around the property, like our comfy fire pit, make a charming hideout from the world's hustle and bustle. San Canzian’s cozy wellness area features a Finnish sauna, a plunge pool with jacuzzi and a treatment room, sublimely made to fully relax and unwind. Yoga lovers can enjoy a rejuvenating yoga experience in the serene natural settings and guided classes. Spanning across lavishing 36,000 square meters, the new extension of the hotel will be introduced in 2026. Tucked away in pristine nature, just a stone’s throw away from San Canzian hotel, the new estate will blend harmoniously into the landscape and honor the Istrian heritage of the original hotel. The new 34 ultra-luxe villas and residences will be fully hotel serviced and feature private heated pools and array of amenities – such as the Clubhouse, with its Mediterranean restaurant, wine cellar, cigar bar, library, serene garden, sumptuous spa, fitness and grand outdoor pool.
