Het theater dankt zijn naam aan de heer Christopher Bacon, directeur van Dean Close School van 1979-1998, die onvermoeibaar geld inzamelde om zijn droom waar te maken. Tegenwoordig biedt het Bacon Theatre met 566 zitplaatsen onderdak aan de beste sprekers op het gebied van professioneel toerend theater, livemuziek, dans, film en beroemdheden, evenals een uitgebreid scala aan producties van lokale getalenteerde jongeren, gemeenschapsgroepen en liefdadigheidsinstellingen.
