Das Chengdu Museum wurde 1958 gegründet und ist derzeit das größte umfassende Stadtmuseum im Südwesten Chinas. Es hat den Status eines erstklassigen nationalen Museums. Es befindet sich am Tianfu-Platz und erstreckt sich über eine Fläche von etwa 11.333 Quadratmetern mit einer Gesamtfläche von rund 65.000 Quadratmetern, von denen etwa 20.000 Quadratmeter Ausstellungen gewidmet sind. Seit der Eröffnung seines neuen Veranstaltungsortes im Jahr 2016 hat das Museum fast 16 Millionen Besucher begrüßt. Es bietet drei Dauerausstellungen: „Die Brokatstadt in voller Blüte: Geschichte und Kultur von Chengdu (Ancient Times, Recent Historical Period, and Folk Customs)“, „Shadow Play and Puppetry of China“ und „Man and Nature: Donations from Kenneth E. Behring“. Die Sammlung umfasst fast 300.000 historische Artefakte, Schattenpuppen, Meisterwerke moderner und zeitgenössischer Malerei und Kalligraphie sowie andere kulturelle Relikte, die von der Jungsteinzeit bis zur Republik China reichen. Das Chengdu Museum ist nicht nur ein städtisches Kulturdenkmal, sondern auch eine spirituelle Heimat für die Menschen in Chengdu, das die großartige Vergangenheit der Stadt bewahrt und präsentiert.
