Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

A provocative, landmark shape on the city skyline, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is one of Cleveland's most visited attractions. Located on Lake Erie's beautiful North Coast Harbor, this musical Mecca features a stunning pyramid and tower designed by renowned architect, I.M. Pei. After a long battle between Cleveland and Memphis for building rights, Cleveland became the victor. After all, it was Cleveland's disc jockey, Alan Freed, who is credited with first promoting the new genre called "rock and roll," and it is Cleveland that was the location of the first rock and roll concert. In 1995, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony including notables such as Yoko Ono and Little Richard. The museum's seven floors are interspersed with the histories of the Hall of Fame's ninety-seven inductees, as well as the stories of the artists, producers and early influencers of rock and roll. The permanent collection includes memorabilia such as posters, costumes, guitars and other musical instruments. It also includes an exhibit entitled "500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll" which showcases the most influential tunes in rock and roll history. The museum's visiting exhibits have showcased superstars such as Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Bob Dylan, U2 and the Supremes. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is open daily, except for Christmas and Thanksgiving from 10:00 am - 5:30 pm. Wednesday hours are 10:00 am - 9:00 pm. Admission is $22.00 for adults, $18.00 for Cleveland area residents, $17.00 for Seniors (65 and over), and $13.00 for children 9-12. Admission is free for children 9-12 who accompany a paid adult.

Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist

Historical Landmark
Completed in 1852, historic St. John's Cathedral in Downtown Cleveland is a magnificent example of the French or ornamental Gothic Style with imposing towers, lofty spires and stained glass windows. Inside, black walnut furnishings enhance the sanctuary. As the Bishop's Church, the Cathedral is the "Mother Church" for over 800,000 Catholics in the Diocese of Cleveland and has served the community for over 150 years. Today the Cathedral is in the middle of a revitalized theater district, sports complex and progressive commercial district.
