The archaeological site of “San Gervasio” is the most important and well studied prehispanic site of all the documented settlements in Cozumel Island. It is named after its location in the former “San Gervasio” ranch. This archaeological set has been considered the center of pilgrimages where the Mayan worshiped the Goddess “Ixchel”. Besides being a Mayan sacred center it was a strategic site for commerce and the politic development of the area. HOURS: Monday to Sunday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm ADMISSION: General Admission $9.50 USD* * $5.00 USD state fee / $4.50 USD federal fee The first visible set is the one known as “Manitas” (Tiny hands) named after the impressions of human hands preserved on the interior walls of the main building. Other buildings that can be seen in this archaeological site are “El Alamo”, “Murciélagos” (bats), “El Arco” (the arc), “Chichán Nah” (small house), “Nohoch Nah” (big house), and “Ka Nah” (tall house).
