Konvention des UNESCO-Welterbekomitees in Mérida durch Atomwaffen angerichtet wurde. Es ist heute noch ein Wahrzeichen der Verwüstung, die zum Zeitpunkt der Bombardierung angerichtet wurde, und ist ein Symbol für das Motto „Keine Hiroshimas mehr“. Über Generationen hinweg ist es zu einem Symbol für die Abschaffung der Atomwaffen und die Bedeutung eines dauerhaften Friedens auf der ganzen Welt geworden.
